Greg Abel: No Plans to Break Up or Divest Berkshire Subsidiaries
In a recent interview, Greg Abel, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, addressed the possibility of the company breaking up or divesting subsidiaries. Abel asserted that Berkshire is an efficient conglomerate, with no layers of bureaucracy, and that its structure allows for effective capital movement between subsidiaries. He cited BNSF as an example, stating that while it has strong operating results, capital is currently deployed in US treasuries, awaiting better investment opportunities. Abel expressed no intention to divest subsidiaries or break up the company.
