As King Charles III spoke to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, he assured America’s elected representatives from both chambers that he was “not here as part of some cunning rearguard action” to return his former colonies to the British crown. Though undoing the effects of the American Revolution 250 years ago was not on his mind, repairing the strained relationship between the United States and Great Britain clearly was. Charles Hilu is a reporter for The Dispatch based in Washington, D.C.
