PWHL Detroit officially announced and set to begin play in the 2026-2027 season.

PWHL Detroit is the first out of the rumoured 2-4 expansion teams that will be announced throughout this month. The PWHL is rapidly expanding from 8 to 12 teams to “rip the bandaid” before letting the teams and fanbases stabilize for the next few years. The team’s colours are Black, White, with Red accents. For speculation, the possible and rumoured expansion cities remaining include: Hamilton, Halifax, Quebec City, Calgary, Denver, Chicago, and Vegas. Edmonton is unfortunately reportedly out of the running in this wave of expansion because of disagreements with ownership. Edit: Detroit will also be hosting the 2026 Entry draft!
