Biggering (The Lorax) - This song going unused is a literal crime. Sure, How Bad Can I Be is a catchy earworm. But Biggering is genuinely a masterful song…that was too self aware for Illumination. This song sounds just like big companies like them, and they know it. But their excuse was “it’s too dark for kids.” No, I think even kids should be exposed to this absolute banger. Hellfire (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) - Perhaps the best villain song of all time. I especially love how it’s essentially the villain version of the “I want” song. This is usually sung by heroes about their goals and aspirations. Here, it’s twisted. Frollo sings about his intense desire and lust for Esmeralda…and how she will burn if she doesn’t obey. The stage musical (specifically the German version), somehow makes this song even better by adding a key change later on. Your Idol (Kpop Demon Hunters) - This entire movie has no right to be as good as it is. But Your Idol is just so amazing. Soda Pop is great too, it’s a fun pop song. But Your Idol is even better. I think it’s the best villain song of the decade, in fact. What makes this song especially unique is the pop, boy-band style. I don’t think we’ve ever heard a villain song like this before, and I appreciate the bravery needed to even make it.
